you should try painting over the image completely in photoshop!!! that way you'll get a really man-made effect

if you take what you have there and put it into photoshop. make a new layer and grab the paint brush, then start grabbing some colours and painting over the image onto the new layer... make sure you keep adding layers for different things that you do as the more layers you have the more control you have over your image (i.e. you can delete or edit/add effects to specifics elements like shadows or highlights in your image)

Also play around with the brushes style... you will notice there are a few different ways for the brush to actually paint... "multiply" and "colour burn" are some good ones. oh and colour dodge.

Dodge = makes area lighter
Burn = makes area darker

in this shot [link] of mine, if you have a look at the full view I have used the colour burn function around my eyes and mouth and the colour dodge function on my actual pupil...

It doesn't require much though to get the effects to look right so make sure you don't over use them
